Creating Email Sections

Creating Email Sections

This is a really swizzy feature we've put into SmartDD that lets you build emails by first defining "sections", and then linking them together.

There are two types of sections, the body, and the signature.

You can create a section by going back to the home page, and then clicking on "Email sections".

This will take you to the email sections manager.

Click on the "Create email section" button to get to the email editor, which looks like this:-

In this example, we're going to create a general use "success email to customer" body section.  Give the section a name, and choose the section type "Success email to customer" from the drop-down box.  There are four types to choose from, although if you want to, you can leave it at " ".

Select the "Plain-text" radio button to keep it simple, and then enter the body text into the editor.  When you've finished, click "Add section".

You'll then be taken back to the Email Sections Manager.

Now we're going to create a product specific signature section to go with one of the products in the database.  This signature will be used to promote a similar product.

Click on the "Create email section" button, and fill in the boxes.  This time, select the "Signature" radio button.  You must also select "Plain-text" as this is type of body we are going to link it with - you can't mix an HTML signature with a Plain-text body and vice-versa.

You should now have two sections, a general purpose body section, and a specific custom section, both for type "Success email to customer", although they could be valid for all types.

Vern Brown :

Hey Frank, I was just going over the instructions for 'sections' and thought of something [WOW]. Is there a way to extend the auto response period, ie: when a person has the product and has the second 'thank you', is that the end of the contacts? Or, can SmartDD be programmed to continue sending [timed] e-mails to contacts - say, every 2 days, every 10 days, etc. Is this already in the program and I just haven't seen it??
This is REALLY a great program and SO much more than meets the eye!! Thanks.

Hi Vern,

[Long pause]Autoresponders…

We (me and my developer partner) just put the one autoresponder in and made it send 24 hours later as we thought it that would give you enough of a chance to get your customer signed up to a real autoresponder.

Look at it like this. The normal delivery email goes out, and directs your customer to the download page (download.php). Then on that page you could also place an offer to join your mailing list in return for a freebie.

If that doesn't work, then 24 hours later you can send another email out to another page where they get the chance to sign up to your mailing list in return for a different freebie.

If they don't bite with either of those, then it's likely they won't sign up at all.

We don't think that anyone would mind if you sent a message 24 hours later asking if everything is okay with their purchase and would they like to join your list. Any more than that and you stand the chance of being called a spammer.

(*I* get called a spammer even though everyone on my mailing list double opted in - i.e. they clicked a "confirm" link in an email to say it was okay for me to send them messages.)

If we'd put in unlimited messages, then you'd have a full blown autoresponder!

The good news is, we intend to create some simple autoresponder software with a double opt-in option, as well as some other small utilities too. When we've done enough of those, then we intend to create SmartDD Pro, originally slated for release about now, but we realised it was a lot of work to complete.

That will contain all the smaller utilities, plus enhanced SmartDD functionality, plus a load of other features we've had requested that are on our drawing board.

If you can't wait for our autoresponder, then use the one I do:-

It's very feature rich, and Aweber work with ISPs to ensure deliverability of emails and get them past those spam filters.

Cheers,

Frank.

Lee :

Frank, I have finally got the upgrade into my server. If any other has the same problem of the server not accepting the license have them remove the ioncube and do the upgrade.

I noticed a lot of new things in the emails. John Thornhill uses a thank you with many upsells in it. Do you have one that you will be discussing in the new create email section of your SmarDD help.

Thank you,
Lee Darcy

Frank Haywood :

Hi Lee,

Yes you can do whatever you like with the emails, and I suggest you create a custom email (and follow up) for every item you sell, with unique promos in that email.

OR, and this is my favourite, convince your buyer they need to sign up to your mailing list.

-Frank Haywood.
