The Email Manager
As you've already seen, there are a number of default emails built in to SmartDD which you'll probably want to customise. You can't delete these built in emails, they're there to make sure that SmartDD works properly.
There's a couple of things worth noting here.
Firstly, the emails are numbered 0 to 8 with number 2 missing - it's been reserved for future use when we implement additional features into SmartDD.
Secondly, the emails are all plain text format, just to keep things simple.
And on that note, we've added in the ability for you to create HTML based emails if you want to. The benefit of using HTML over plain text is that you can (if you wish) use rich formatting such as different fonts, sizes, italics, bold, graphics etc.
There isn't however an HTML editor yet built into SmartDD. If you know your way round HTML, that won't be a problem for you, but for most people it's easier if you can use a visual designer / editor program.
If you don't already have an editor such as Macromedia Dreamweaver or MS Front Page, I suggest you use the excellent free editor from http://www.nvu.com/ instead.
With Nvu, you can easily create your HTML email and then copy and paste the code into SmartDD.
For example, using Nvu, I generated the code on the following page for a "Custom Sucess Email To Customer". It took me about a minute to do.
